Richard Florida’s Great Reset & Implications for Project Concentrus

Please listen to this podcast by Richard Florida, who brought us the Creative Class in the early 90s, and his new book talks about how lifestyle will drive economic development/economic vitality (ED/EV) in the future: http://www.smartcityradio.com/show/2810/the-great-reset

Richard Florida explains why he believes the economic crash will change our entire way of life in America. It is the premise of his latest book, The Great Reset: How New Ways of Living and Working Drive Post-Crash Prosperity. Just as suburbanization propelled us out of the Great Depression, Richard believes great urbanism will drive prosperity in America’s new economic reality.

What impact will the “great re-set” have on ED/EV in Snohomish County? One possibility is greater regionalization and increased ties to Seattle. Greater reliance on public transportation is very likely. Is Snohomish County served by a commuter rail system? If not, what discussions have taken place about this issue in the past? Will fewer people move to communities that are farther away from their jobs? Florida says they will not.
