Is it harder to land a job if you’re unemployed?

That is the headline of a recent news story by the Herald Newspaper. It seems that some employers are more interested in interviewing candidates who are already employed. This policy troubles me because it serves to further discourage workers from seeking jobs. In this near jobless economic recovery we are experiencing, people need all the encouragement and help they can get to find employment. After all, two-thirds of the economy is composed of consumer spending. When people are unemployed, they are not spending.
