The Middle Class Meltdown

The debate about the demise of the middle class is longstanding. There are different views of what the problem is and how to solve it.

Our lingering economic downturn has many people wondering if it will ever get better. Try selling your house in this market. Get ready for the price low-ballers. Want to change jobs? Not so easy. Want to retire? Can you afford to?

So here is one view of the issue. It is a familiar voice and one that is growing louder as more and more folks feel the pinch.

What does all this say about Snohomish County–a place that has done well in terms of growth and opportunity in the past couple decades. Sure many people worry about Boeing. Overall, the County has been on a growth trajectory, unlike many other counties and regions I can think of.

Your thoughts on the middle class issue?
