Kansas landed in the top 10 in eight categories that rank states’ economic development efforts, officials said. The rankings by Business Facilities represent Kansas’ best finish in the magazine’s Rankings Report, which includes 20 categories. The report emphasized states making advances in emerging industries, such as alternative energy, and looked at states that are leading the U.S. economic recovery.

In the same rankings, South Carolina received the Gold Medal for the top economic development project of the year with its landing of Boeing’s new production facility. The article says that the deal solidifies SC’s position as a future aerospace leader.
